HOWTO: Open FLV files using VirtualDub
Published on 2008/09/27 by Igor Levicki
Previous tip dealt with WMV files, this one teaches you how to open those pesky FLV files (yeah, the ones you get off the youtube.com) in VirtualDub.
First you need to download FLV Input Plugin written by Moitah. To be able to use input plugins mentioned here you need to have VirtualDub version 1.8.0 or higher.
Unfortunately, that is only half of the work done — you also need a decoder for FLV1 and VP6F video streams. At the moment of this writing the only solution is to download and install ffdshow-tryouts, open VFW configuration, select Decoders tab, and in the Codecs section make sure that FLV1 and VP6F are set to libavcodec. Happy transcoding!
