Apacer Audio Steno AU240 mp3 and wma player

I have just purchased Apacer Audio Steno AU240 mp3 player for the price of 30€ in a local computer store.
When I got home and pluged it in, I was a bit disapointed by the display clarity (which can be fixed by adjusting contrast) and slow file copying even though they claim the player is an USB 2.0 device.
However, what struck me the most was the absolutely awfull sound. I tried equalizer presets and the sound was muddy and distorted and I thought I just wasted 30€ on a piece of trash. But...
Then I plugged my Panasonic earplugs instead of bundled ones just to be absolutely sure, and I literally ended up on the floor when I heard the difference.
Player actually has a terrific sound once you pair it up with some decent earplugs — shame on Apacer for not including higher quality earplugs with this device!
The bundled ones are plain awfull and they don't do any justice to the player itself. Hell, I almost ended up returning it to the store because of them! If I had an option to try it out before I bought it, I would probably give up on it because of a poor first impression based on those lousy earplugs.
That said, the player itself is very nice, easy to use, and I am glad I bought it. I recommend it, but keep in mind that you won't be able to enjoy it without investing in a pair of decent earplugs.
