Do not use FlashGet download manager

I have used FlashGet for a long time because I liked it, simple and fast, clean interface. But not anymore.
All versions of FlashGet after 1.73 have been seriously compromised and I can no longer trust it nor recommend it to anyone.
I have tried version 1.92 recently and here is what I found out:
Not only have I disabled eMule and BitTorrent from the preferences, I have also manually edited configuration file and set:
ED2K.Enable=0 ED2K.Server.AutoConnect=0 ED2K.KAD.Enable=0 BT.Enable=0
All that to no avail. As you can see, FlashGet is still attempting outbound connections to some servers.
If I could put aside the broken disable option for a moment, and if those servers were regular ED2K servers I wouldn't mind but PeerGuardian clearly shows that those servers it tries to connect are FAKE.
I have used FlashGet in the past to download regular stuff like display drivers, freeware, shareware and demos, but after finding this out I will never use it again. I don't like programs which use MY Internet connection for something I haven't authorized them to do.
That is why I am recommending you not to use FlashGet anymore. There are a lot of free alternatives anyway which do not talk to someone over the Internet behind your back.
