Games with checkpoints - I hate them

Whoever thought of a checkpoint system in first person shooter games should suffer in some way. It simply drives me nuts. I mean, why do you have to run through half the forrest, kill 50 enemies and then 51st refuses to die never mind how many lead you put into him and then kills you with a single shot?!?
Games are supposed to be fun, aren't they? They should not frustrate you. So why not the save/load system like any normal games have (Half-Life, Quake, Doom, etc)?!? Why???
From now on, I am boycotting any game that has checkpoints, and I am asking you to do the same! No longer shall we allow them to make us replay some part of the game several times thus artificially inflating gameplay because they are lazy to make the game last longer by creating more content.
